…a ReclaimingOurHeritage.org program
h²Events (aka, “HipStory Happenings”) are hip, Florida heritage-themed social gatherings geared to offer a fresh take on something old. Signature h²Events are themed around hip stories of our past--HipStory milestones that bring alive our region’s boomtown tales (circa 1875-1925: The Bay’s 50 Boomtown Years). By emphasizing entertaining and stimulating programming that add the pop and zing of a good story to social mixers, 20-40 somethings learn more about our community’s heritage. Activities include yesteryear-themed art exhibits, historic building spelunking, happy hour lectures by leading experts, and vintage wine tastings. Past events have shared the stories of The Tampa Firefighting Museum, The Ybor City Museum Society, The Hillsborough Library System's Burgert Brothers Photography Collection, Starkey Ranch, and more. And naturally, “reclaimed” stories of The Tampa Daily Times and other vintage newspapers are woven throughout--ideally inspiring an interest in joining the search to reclaim more!
